Started in 2019, by director Jordy Sank, the company launched with a feature documentary, “I Am Here”, a significant project close to his heart about a spirited South African Holocaust survivor.

Sanktuary Films tailors an expert crew for every project, be it narrative music videos or heartfelt documentaries, short films or features.

Director

Jordy Sank is a director with a passion for storytelling and filmmaking, with a vision to create content that evokes truth, meaning and emotion. His student film, “The Locket”, was nominated for a SAFTA for best student film in 2017, and was screened at various local and international festivals.

Jordy has a background in South Africa’s advertising industry, being guided and mentored by directing giants. He has directed video content for a range of brands such as Vodacom, KFC and Telkom.

Currently, Jordy is directing his first feature documentary, “I Am Here”, the memoirs of holocaust survivor Ella Blumenthal. Having grown up alongside Ella, listening to her heart-wrenching stories of perseverance, resilience and strength, he was inspired to embark on this passion project, that has been a dream of his for over 5 years. The documentary is due to be completed this year.

Gabriella Blumberg is a South African producer and director with a drive to create compelling humanitarian stories. Her short film “I, Coolie” (2018) won best student film at the San Francisco Black Film Festival and won the judge’s choice at Best Global Shorts festival. Her short film “Inheritance” (2018) is currently available on the UK Jewish Film Video On Demand platform.

Gabriella is passionate about filmmaking and storytelling that has impact and cause which is why she is often involved in video productions for the breast health sector and other non profit organisations.
